Hi deviants!

Today I started and finished this picture and it was a very entertaining work. I was very inspired by John Wallin (Andree's brother). Both have absolutely amazing work. So much inspiration and so I had to paint something. Again, I learned new things and it is very pleasing.

The forest has always been a constant inspiration for almost every single form of art medium under the sun. From serene still life photography to fantastical depiction of fictional creatures prancing happily throughout its ancient wooden groves. Each and every single season in the forest somehow has an almost mystical effect on those who are either wishing to depict it in their own personal way or simply traveling through it on a trip. However, one singular season stands forth when it comes to the forest; the silent serenity that is the winter. Winter shrouds all underneath its view under a sheet of shimmering frost, billowing snow and reflective icicles; turning a once lush and green area as a forest into a frozen museum of perpetuated life. Deep Forrest</b>, created by *etwoo, gives us a glimpse at his own personal interpretation of the forest tundra complete with frozen trees and ice-kissed rocks.

My first thought was that he created the actual feel of a frozen forest. The rocks have been ice and snow encrusted while at the same time has a semi-transparent look to them so that you can still see the rocky surface underneath it. The branches and small plants near the bottom of the picture are bending realistically underneath the weight of the frozen water upon them and look as if they could snap apart at any moment. The sun's life giving rays shine down on the snow below and reflect the light off of it quite nicely giving off some good light reflectivity. The light blues and whites almost cause you to get lost in the image itself and just pull you in. You can almost hear the chilling winds blowing through the silent forest, the occasion sound of snow dropping from the canopy of the trees, and even the slight sound of small animals who have awoke from their hibernation early in search of sustenance.

However, to be honest the piece does feel a little derivative. This very scene has been done many times before and, despite its quality and presentation, it feels a bit...dated in its concept. Perhaps a less orthodox location or area and with a different concept to help it stand out in contrast to many other similar works and it would have a much more unique gem of a composition.

Even with some minor gripes, the piece can still stand up on its own. The piece still carries the silent serenity of the frozen forest tundra style quite well and is still a great composition. Good work *etwoo

oh my ... I apologize for the mistake: D I understand it wrong. Andrée said something about John Wallin [link] # / d1jchgm and I think it's his brother. Next time I'll be careful. Anyway, I am very pleased that my amateur profile found such an artist like you. I must say that I'm your big fan! Your technique is simply amazing. Probably will not have much time, but if you could write a few words about yourself. What was your approach in your career, etc.. Because I'm from the Czech Republic and there is still medieval: D I think in the digital art. And if you also had some criticism for my pictures I would be very happy! Many thanks for any reply.
